Last weekend, San Antonio poured into the traffic-free streets of downtown to enjoy this year’s Síclovía, a family adventure hosted by the YMCA. The city streets became a safe place for families to run, ride bikes, participate in exercise classes and enjoy their Sunday afternoon.

Stream Data Centers participated in the event by hosting a tree adoption on site to encourage awareness and education about protecting the environment. The tree adoption was part of our Stream Builds Green initiative and the company’s commitment to utilizing green-building practices in the construction of private data centers.

Attendees enjoyed a mix of music, healthy food and exercise demos of zumba, yoga, pilates, soccer, boot camp and line dancing.

After a day filled with activities on open San Antonio streets, visitors came by the Stream Data Centers booth to pick up a native plant from a selection of live oak, red oak, and mountain laurel.

Tips were provided on how to care for each type of tree in Texas weather.

Our booth welcomed Mark Bird, City Arborist for San Antonio, and Michael Nentwich, City Forester with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation.

This year was the second time Stream Data Centers sponsored a tree adoption at Síclovía, and, within 2 hours, Stream facilitated the adoption of 450 trees. We hope to continue to help the community build a more responsible lifestyle and environment, starting with bringing a home a shade of green.

The new Stream Data Centers private data center property in Richardson, Texas. The company will build a similar facility in San Antonio.

Stream Data Centers is expanding again, building a greenfield data center on land it has acquired in San Antonio. The company announced today it has acquired 9.6 acres of land in Westover Hills Business Park. This will be the company’s second data center in San Antonio, and ninth in Texas. Stream Data Centers will break ground on its San Antonio Private Data Center in May 2013 and the facility will be fully commissioned and ready for occupancy in February 2014.

The data center will be a 75,840 square foot purpose-built facility that will initially deliver 2.25 MW of critical load power, with the ability to easily expand the critical load to 6.75 MW with all necessary conduit and pads in place. It is being divided into three private data center suites, each containing 10,000 square feet of raised floor space

“We are excited to build upon our previous success in San Antonio and start our latest project in the area,” said Paul Moser, Co-Managing Partner of Stream Data Centers. ”San Antonio’s diverse mix of Fortune 1000 companies and their growing IT requirements is driving the need for more data center space in the city. San Antonio is also attractive to out-of-region enterprise data center users due to its central US location, reliable infrastructure, and stable cost of electricity.” The company has witnessed the strength of the San Antonio market in the past, selling a previous project to a Fortune 100 company.

Stream will utilize its standard 2N electrical / N+1 mechanical configuration and the project will include dual feed power from two separate substations. Additionally, the carrier-neutral facility will include redundant telecommunication rooms serving each PDC Suite with access to the multiple fiber providers serving the site.

It is being constructed using Miami-Dade County Building Code Standards, providing the ability to withstand 146-mph straight-line winds and uplift. Stream is using accredited construction and design practices required to achieve LEED Gold Certification

Stream strategically selected the site for this development in Westover Hills Business Park because it boasts high security and a robust fiber and power infrastructure. The site is in close proximity to other primary enterprise data centers occupied by Microsoft, Chevron, Lowe’s Corporation, Valero, Frost Bank, Christus Health and others.

San Antonio is one of the fastest growing oil & gas markets as a result of its proximity to Houston and attraction from large companies who are creating operational hubs in the city. It is also home to a large concentration of financial services, healthcare, and government related organizations. Microsoft can at least partially be credited for kicking off a strong San Antonio data center market way back in 2008, when it decided to build a mammoth data center there.

“We look forward once again to working with Stream Data Centers in San Antonio to identify and recruit enterprise data center users to the area,” said Mario Hernandez, president of San Antonio Economic Development Foundation.

Stream has other data center developments in Dallas, Houston, Denver and Minneapolis. Stream Data Centers has a fourteen year track record of providing space for enterprise data center users including Apple, AT&T, The Home Depot, Chevron, Catholic Health Initiatives, Nokia and others. During that time, Stream has acquired, developed and operated more than 1.5 million square feet of data center space in Texas, Colorado, Minnesota, and California representing more than 125 megawatts of power.

Stream Data Centers was pleased to sponsor The Woodlands Development Company’s Arbor Day Celebration, supporting the distribution of more than 120,000 tree seedlings to area residents. The Woodlands has lost more than 24,000 trees due to severe drought, and replenishing the urban forest through tree adoption is just one part of our commitment to keeping the community green. Our 74,901-square-foot Private Data Center under construction in The Woodlands is targeting LEED Gold certification, which will make it an environmentally-friendly neighbor. This internationally-recognized building program reduces waste, conserves energy and lessens harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, our designs benefit data center users by creating greater operational efficiencies.

The Woodlands is well-known for its strong community and natural beauty, but it is also a great place to do business. As more large corporations make this area their home, they will need reliable data centers to keep their businesses up and running. The Woodlands offers a master-planned office environment, with no proximity to industrial uses, rail lines or flight paths, and is located more than 75 miles from the Gulf Coast. Additionally, The Woodlands provides access to a robust power and fiber infrastructure, making it an ideal site for data center development. Stream Data Centers is proud to join the robust corporate community in The Woodlands and support The Woodlands Development Company as it works to make the area a great place to live and work.

Stream Data Centers Completes Private Data Center™ in the Dallas Market

Facility opens in Richardson’s Telecom Corridor® Area

DALLAS– Stream Data Centers, a leading data center developer in the Texas market, has completed construction of its fully-commissioned Private Data Center in Richardson, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. The facility is located in a high-tech community, known nationally as the Telecom Corridor® area, which boasts one of the highest concentrations of technology employees in the country.

The Stream Private Data Center is a ground-up, purpose-built data center development totaling 73,320 square feet, built to Miami-Dade County Building Code Standards to withstand 146-mph winds and uplift. Additionally, Stream utilized accredited construction and design practices required to achieve LEED Gold Certification.

“Stream’s Private Data Center is a wholesale option that allows companies to immediately deploy critical data center operations, control their own space and infrastructure, and expand power and cooling in a cost-effective manner over time,” said Paul Moser, co-managing partner of Stream Data Centers. “Demand from corporate users for this purpose-built, scalable product is strong.”

This data center is Stream’s second development in Richardson in the last two years. Richardson’s proven power and fiber infrastructure has attracted major data center operations and critical facilities for companies including Texas Instruments, Bank of America, AT&T, Verizon, Cisco Systems and Fujitsu.

“Richardson is quickly becoming a powerhouse for data center companies looking to locate in our Telecom Corridor® area, and the addition of Stream’s new facility is a very welcome addition,” said Richardson Mayor Bob Townsend. “Its goal for gold-rated LEED construction also builds upon our community’s focus to promote sustainable development, which is another reason why we couldn’t be happier to have such a prominent corporate partner choose to be a part of our city.”

The Stream Private Data Center delivers 3.375 MW of critical load with the ability to easily expand to 6.75 MW across 30,000 square feet of raised floor with all necessary conduit and pads in place. Stream utilizes a 2N electrical / N+1 mechanical configuration and provides dual-feed power from two separate substations. The carrier-neutral facility is served by eight fiber providers through diverse, private fiber conduits.

The building is available and can be controlled by a single tenant or divided into three fully-independent Private Data Center Suites™. Each Private Data Center Suite houses a 10,000-square-foot raised-floor data hall, disaster recovery office space, redundant private telecommunication rooms and a private utility yard. Each suite is supported by 1,125 KW of 2N critical load delivered by an independent power and cooling infrastructure with the ability to expand to 2,250 KW.

The company is also developing a Private Data Center project in the Houston market and remains active in San Antonio and Denver.

Stream Data Centers Begins Construction in The Woodlands
by Olivia Pulsinelli
June 22, 2012

Stream Data Centers has started construction of a data center development in The Woodlands.

The Stream Private Data Center will be 73,320 square feet and will be built to withstand 146-mph winds and uplift, Dallas-based Stream said in a statement. The facility will seek LEED Gold Certification.

A single tenant can control the facility, or it can be divided into three independent data center suites, Stream said. Each suite contains a private 10,000-square-foot raised-floor data hall, private disaster recovery office space, redundant private telecommunications rooms and a private utility yard.

The entire center will deliver 3.375 megawatts of critical load, with each suite delivering 1,125 kilowatts of 2N critical load.

The facility’s location in The Woodlands is outside of the 500-year floodplain and removed from industrial uses, rail lines and flight paths.

The facility, Stream’s fifth data center in Texas in the past four years, will be ready for occupancy in April 2013, Stream said.
