Nurturing Community, Expanding Opportunity: Underscoring Representation in Innovation

As an organization that looks to highlight contributions from all sorts of smart, passionate, honest and kind individuals from different walks of life, Stream continues to pursue innovation and mentorship rooted in these values. As our business grows and our industry evolves, seeking opportunities to explore and strengthen diversity of thought, perspective and experience remains a key part of our ability to build better skills, processes and results. In turn, this helps our Stream Team continue to be the best version of itself on behalf of our customers — and helps the industry continue to develop the leaders of tomorrow too. So, when a group of Stream Team members got the chance to attend the Latinas in Tech Summit 2025 — a three-day occasion uniting industry peers to inspire learning, foster impactful networking and celebrate cultural identity — we jumped at the chance.

Statistics (like those shared by Forbes) have noted that, despite being the fastest-growing demographic in the workforce, Latinas currently make up only 1% of C-suite leadership in the U.S. To make strides and drive representation, the Summit’s agenda included panels and talks from many inspiring figures.

Here’s a recap of our experience.

Leaders in the Workplace

While the Latinas in Tech Summit delivered a jam-packed agenda, one session that stood out centered on advocating for oneself and negotiating effectively, providing attendees with a “playbook” for breaking barriers. This session underscored the power of mentorship and sponsorship, reminding everyone that when one person succeeds, it uplifts the entire community (our mentorship expert and HOLA DATA founding member, Jose Ruiz, agrees).

Tips included:

• Speak up for yourself and others, even when it’s uncomfortable.
• Negotiate like an athlete: prepare, practice and play to win.
• Push for clear, transparent promotion paths within your workplace.

Meanwhile, other key speaker sessions highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, highlighting the value of different voices in the creation of inclusive products and solutions — including AI.

As AI continues to dominate industry discussions, the Latinas in Tech Summit offered its own key perspectives on this new tech (and others). Some panels highlighted the rapid evolution of the cybersecurity field and the critical role Latinas can play in shaping its future, while others focused on developing opportunities in AI and automation.

Practical advice for breaking into these fields included starting with key certifications and exploring emerging AI tools, and panelists emphasized that success often begins with a willingness to learn and grow. Ultimately, this event highlighted how artificial intelligence can be used to transform jobs, stressing the importance of continuous learning to remain competitive as roles change. Importantly, active participation from all kinds of people and professionals is necessary to shape ethical AI systems that avoid inherent biases.

Final Thoughts From the Stream Team

So, what were our takeaways? As Christina Garcia, Security Manager, notes, “This conference inspired me to look into other areas of the tech profession. It gave me the drive to move up, branch out, and learn more about tech. I want to make a mark in the industry.”

Karla Cervantes, Procurement Agent, states, “Seeing women who look like me and share similar backgrounds succeed in their careers is incredibly empowering. It reminds me that I belong in those spaces too. I’m excited about the efforts my company is making towards outreach, especially for girls in STEM, and I hope to be part of that by showing up, being present, and continuing to build a career that reflects what’s possible”

Rose Galanos, Talent Management Principal, observes, “Attending the Latinas in Tech Summit was a great opportunity to connect with peers across the tech industry and hear how other companies are supporting talent in infrastructure and innovation. The sessions offered real-world examples of how diverse teams are solving technical challenges with broader perspectives and collaborative approaches, and the experience fostered meaningful team bonding and reflection on our own roles in the tech landscape — especially how data centers are represented in these industry events.”
