At Stream Data Centers, we know that superior performance starts with great people. As our team has grown over the years, it’s no accident that we’ve maintained a significant population of ex-military vets. Ensuring success across mission-critical, high-stakes scenarios — whether in a data hall or in a submarine, for example — requires dedication, technical ability, precision, accountability and adaptability.
Military technicians and leaders are especially well-versed in managing complex systems, supporting operational discipline, responding decisively under pressure, and, perhaps above all, collaborating closely with their teams. These skills and talents remain invaluable for data center scenarios, making this a great civilian industry to transition into (and we couldn’t be more grateful to welcome these folks to our team).
This Veterans Day, we proudly celebrate the nearly one third of our team who have served in the U.S. military and salute all veterans whose backgrounds and values continue to strengthen our industry and ensure reliability for our customers and communities.

Veterans are stepping into tech and infrastructure roles across the country and making a big impact. Recent headlines say it best:

Veterans bring key skills to the data center industry even aside from technical training: leadership, discipline, problem solving, and a calm-under-pressure mindset. Their contributions strengthen operations and elevate teams across the sector.
But furthermore, veterans are often used to working in complex, critical environments, following strict protocols, managing complex systems, and adapting quickly. Transitions from military service to civilian careers aren’t always easy, but the data center industry offers a clear path forward — and often, vets feel right at home with the work they’re doing and the environments they’re doing it in.
To us, this is a win-win: Vets transitioning into data centers find a fulfilling career in a growing industry, and we get talent that continues to be some of our best.

Our veteran employees bring specialized skills and experience to every part of our operations. We’re lucky to have a diverse group of veterans on our team – from engineering and safety to leasing and talent acquisition. Their backgrounds vary, but they all share a commitment to excellence and a drive to keep things running smoothly.
Here’s a look at a few team members whose military backgrounds continue to shape their impact today:
- A senior safety manager in our western region draws on his experience in the U.S. Marine Corps, where they specialized in military policing and explosive ordnance disposal. Their commitment to safety and calm leadership in high-risk environments helps ensure the wellbeing of our teams and facilities — as well as the reliable operations of our facilities.
- In critical engineering, a technician based in Texas applies the discipline and reliability honed during their time aboard a Navy amphibious assault ship. Their attention to detail and mentorship earned him recognition in our 2024 Circle of Excellence.
- A leasing and network leader, formerly with the U.S. Air Force, brings a “one team, one mission” approach to their work. Their leadership supports Stream’s growth and extends into the community through volunteer service to boot.
- In corporate security, a former Army combat medic leads a team managing complex security systems. Their experience in high-pressure environments and humanitarian missions informs their disciplined, empathetic approach to leadership.
- Our systems engineering team includes a Navy submarine veteran whose technical expertise and accountability continue to strengthen mission-critical operations. Their background in electronics and navigation systems ensures precision across our infrastructure.
- A facilities manager with a background in nuclear submarine service combines technical mastery with strategic leadership. With advanced training and a business degree, they support infrastructure excellence — and have the time and drive to mentor the next generation of talent too.
- Another facilities manager in Texas brings nearly a decade of Navy experience in nuclear power and submarine operations to our team. Their commitment to operational excellence earned him a company-wide impact award, reflecting the values he brings to our team.
