San Antonio I
Stream Data Centers’ first facility in San Antonio, Texas is a perfect example of our strategy of proactively building data centers in locations where total cost of ownership can be optimized, risk is low, network connectivity is robust and sustainability is easily achievable. San Antonio I checked all those boxes – including relatively low-cost power, abundant renewable energy options and relatively low natural disaster risk.
Stream acquired the property, which is adjacent to a new 300 MW substation and Microsoft’s 470,000 SF data center, in July of 2008. We closed the sale of the data center to a Fortune 10 company in July of 2011. The 150,000 SF facility on 33 acres of land is designed to expand by an additional 200,000 SF. The structurally enhanced building is designed to withstand 175 MPH winds and uplift and has two diverse 30 MW utility feeds from two substations to ensure resiliency.
