Data Center SLA

A Data Center SLA is a service level agreement that covers all the key infrastructure elements and service metrics like power, temperature and network availability.

Data center SLAs frequently offer a 100% uptime guarantee, generally focused on the following critical services:

  • Power — including an uptime commitment for redundant power (A+B power)
  • Temperature — a commitment to maintain an average ambient room temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit (+ or -5 degrees), which is usually controlled using computer room air conditioning (CRAC)
  • Bandwidth — many data centers offer guaranteed uptime on network availability to their clients

If a provider fails to meet uptime commitments outlined in the data center SLA, customers should be able to request a credit.
