Stream Data Centers’ second hyperscale campus in Wilmer, in South Dallas County, is the site of our newest multi-building area data center development on 140 acres, scheduled to ultimately support 240 MWc and more than 1.52 million SF at full build with an on-site up to 372 MW Oncor substation.

The new DFWC, aka “Wilmer II” campus is currently being constructed on an expansive new site, where tenants will benefit from excellent utility power and fiber infrastructure as well as the optimal location, in close proximity to Downtown Dallas, multiple airports and DFW metro amenities.

Stream Data Centers’ 77-acre hyperscale campus in South Dallas County is the site of our first build-to-suit development in the immediate area, scheduled to support 90 MW and 690,000 SF at full build across three hyperscale data center buildings.

Stream’s South Dallas-area campus in Wilmer, TX is being constructed on an expansive site, which is supported by a new on-site Oncor substation. Tenants will benefit from excellent utility power and fiber infrastructure as well as the optimal location, near Downtown Dallas, multiple airports and DFW metro amenities.

In January of 2020, Stream commissioned the first phase of this greenfield hyperscale data center development, titled DFW VII, on a prime 23-acre site in Garland – immediately adjacent to northeast Dallas, Texas. Subsequently, we began construction on what would ultimately become our expanded 275,000 square-foot hyperscale data center, providing 43 MW of critical capacity. The expanded building, now coded DFWA1, is powered by two utility power feeds from a 95 MW on-site Oncor substation, with aggressive utility pricing and renewable energy sourced in-state. The entire hyperscale facility was fully leased by a major cloud customer in 2023.

In December of 2016, Stream Data Centers acquired a prime 16-acre site in Plano ideal for greenfield development. Shortly thereafter, we began construction on what would become a structurally enhanced 145,000 SF data center (expandable to 265,000 SF). The facility was powered by two 20 MW underground utility feeds from two substations, and served by four diverse fiber routes for redundant connectivity. We completed construction in October of 2017 and sold the facility to a technology company.

With demand for data center capacity continuing to outpace supply in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, Stream Data Centers sought a new site for greenfield development of another data center. We purchased the Richardson site in July of 2011 and began construction on the 73,320 SF data center. The facility would support 3.6 MW of critical load (expandable to 7.2 MW), with 30,000 SF of data hall space across three private data halls, each with dedicated infrastructure. We completed construction in September of 2012 and sold the facility in 2014 to a Fortune 1000 financial services company.

In 2010, Stream Data Centers purchased a 20,000 SF warehouse in Richardson and began development of a 10,000 SF data hall to support 1.68 MW of critical load (expandable to 2.3 MW). Built to Tier III design standards, the facility featured 2N electrical and N+1 mechanical configuration. For optimal resiliency, two utility feeds provided power from two substations. We leased the facility to a major healthcare provider in early 2011 and sold it later that year.

After several years focusing data center development efforts in Austin and Silicon Valley, Stream Data Centers once again turned to the Dallas market. By this time, in 2007, the glut of vacant data centers left over from the dotcom bust had been eliminated, so we sought out greenfield sites on which we could build a data center from the ground up.

We found such a site in Plano and built a 150,000 SF facility (expandable to 350,000 SF). The LEED Silver-rated facility was structurally enhanced to withstand 175 MPH winds, with two 30 MW utility feeds from separate substations to optimize resiliency. We sold the data center in 2008 to a Fortune 500 technology company.

Shortly after the successful acquisition and redevelopment of DFW I, seeing continued strong demand for data center capacity, Stream Data Centers located another Tier II facility in Dallas, also vacant at the time. We leased the facility to a leading European technology company in 2000, and sold it to a global network services provider in 2015.

At the height of the dot-com boom, in the late 1990s, demand for data center capacity was very high – particularly among technology companies and telecommunications providers. With a mission to serve that demand, Stream Data Centers located a vacant, Tier II data center in Dallas. Stream redeveloped the facility and leased it to a leading telecommunications provider in 2000. Fifteen years later, Stream sold the facility.
